2011 Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods at Wolf Trap Summer Schedule

Dreading the summer break and wondering how to keep your kids happy? Wolf Trap Foundation announced the Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods 2011 summer schedule.From Tuesdays through Saturdays, you and your little ones can enjoy family-friendly shows on a stage nestled between 117 acres of woods.

What’s new for summer 2011 Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods

For summer 2011, enjoy two shows for the price of one. The cost of the ticket is only $8. Enjoy 70 performances and partake in a summer time adventure of storytelling, puppetry, music, dance and theater, ideal for kids in Kindergarten through sixth grade.

4th Annual Northern Virginia Summer Brewfest, June 25 & 26, 2011

Join thousands in the annual Northern Virginia Brewfest on Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26, 2011 and partake in beer samplings from over 40 of America’s best breweries. Along with the best libations, learn all about the process of brewing your own beer!

 The festival will have a kids-friendly area for young adults. Enjoy food from local restaurant vendors, musical performances and a display of crafts from local artisans.

Important FAQs

  • Valid identification is required for admission to the event.
  • Ticket is good for one day only,
  • The DD program is available for attendees 16 and older. Free water and soda is included in the price of this ticket.
  • Outside food and beverage is not allowed.
  • Four beer sampling tickets are included with the price of admission and additional samping tickets are available for $1.00. Food is purchased separately from vendors.
  • No pets allowed.

The hometown of America’s first President, Mount Vernon hosts a vibrant event for July 4.The Independence Day celebrations include patriotic fireworks over the Potomac River, wreath laying ceremony, visit from the “first” first couple, General and Mrs. Washington.

Free Yoga at DC Yoga Week: May 15 to May 21 2011

Yoga enthusiasts are in for a treat during the DC Yoga week that commences May 15, 2011 to May 21, 2011. For a week, D.C residents can enjoy yoga at all participating studios for $5 or for free.

To kick start the event, partake in a fun-filled gathering called the Yoga on the Mall (YOTM), near the Washington Monument, on the grounds of the National Mall on Sunday, May 15 between 1:30-4:30 pm. Led by talented instructors from participating DC Yoga Week studios, the YOTM is a free event that caters to yogis of all skill sets, including families and young children.

The Yoga on the Mall will feature live drumming by the Young Women’s Drumming Empowerment Project, Acro-Yoga demonstration and interactive partner class and Special Appearance and class lead by Shiva Rea, accompanied by drumming from Unified Vibrations.

Also, participate in the “Yoga Swarga”, the first Yoga Flash Mob in conjunction with the Asian Heritage Foundation on Saturday, May 21, 10-11 am at John Marshall Park. Bring your own mats and indulge in a series of self-paced sun salutations. Be a part of more festivities that includes cultural parade, craft activities, martial arts, interactive displays and more.
